ABOUT AGI

WORKOUT WITH AGI CHRISTINE AT MIX STUDIO

Agnes (but better known as Agi) grew up in a small village in the Bavarian Forest, surrounded by cows and mountains which automatically led her to her passion for the outdoors and sports. At the age of 17 she started her modeling career which allowed her to travel the world and try out different yoga studios, gyms & styles of exercise. In 2015 whilst living in Sydney, she took part in a 30-day Yoga Challenge which encouraged her to try teacher training to become a qualified yoga teacher. In 2018, she unfortunately had an accident whilst climbing. Her doctor told her she would never run again... For her this wasn’t an answer - she trained harder then ever before and put all her energy into healing and 1 year post op, she finished half a marathon.
She believes our bodies are capable of a lot but we need to set our mind to it, to achieve these things. Her journey has inspired her to motivate people to get back on track and to achieve their personal best.

"My Inspiration: Making the impossible possible."

WORKOUT STYLE

When it comes to teaching, she enjoys teaching a slow but steady yoga flow but her strength is definitely in teaching a more active style. At MIX Studio she teaches 'Sculpt Yoga' which is a mix between Vinyasa Yoga, Cardio & Core Work plus dumbbells for extra strength training. This Yoga class will make you sweat!

She also teaches Sculpting at Atomix Fitness, which is described as her own style which utilises the treadmill - instead of running/sprinting. The floor work is essentially yoga poses, but done with weights and lots of
repetition. As the name suggests, this class will sculpt/shape your body and you are guaranteed to feel it in your legs the next day!
And thirdly, she offers private classes - depending what the client wants - she always try to incorporate exercises that she had to do during her rehabilitation to strengthen her knees.

LIFESTYLE

1. What is your go-to fuel in the morning?
Rooibos Tea with Cinnamon & Cashew Milk before I teach and afterwards a smoothie with different nuts & seeds, a special powder called "Rocketfuel“ which I get from Cape Town, Maca Powder & Banana

2. What does a typical day in your week look like?
Wake up at 6am, teach a morning Sculpt Yoga Class at MIX Studio, then go for a run (if I have the time), breakfast, work on my computer (I’m a Social Media Manager on the side & I model as well), teaching a private class in the afternoon followed by an evening Sculpting Class at ATOMIX

3. Tell us about your lifestyle: what are your daily fitness routines?
When I teach Sculpt Yoga I pretty much do the whole class with the students as it's fast paced with lots of movement and I pretty much have to show everything... So I automatically get a workout in myself. Otherwise I run 3-4 times a week, snowboard a lot during winter and in summer I love to hike & rock climb. I’m a very active person, I exercise every day.

4. A song you can’t workout without?
Puh, there’s many... For running I would say, right now it’s "They Speak“ from Öwnboss, CEVITH

FASHION

1. What's in your workout bag?
Not much, I already wear my fitness clothes, other than that a water bottle, my smoothie in the morning and my laptop so I can do my social media work between classes

2. Favourite activewear designer?
That’s a tough one, I was sponsored by Adidas for many years and I still love their stuff, but I also like the classic pieces from Casall but then on the other hand I love the funky stuff from Heroine Sport.

3. Activewear piece that you can’t live without?
A sports bra from Adidas x StellaMcCartney... It’s literally at least 5 years old but it's the only bra that gives me the right support during running. Luckily I bought two... I just haven’t found one that works as good as that one. But I’m afraid one day it will fall apart.

4. Favourite SPORT.LES piece?
My silver shiny set from Heroine Sport.

FITNESS

1. What is the best thing about being a fitness instructor?
Seeing people happy after a great workout!

2. If you weren't a fitness instructor, what would you be?
As I mentioned above, I model on the side (well before Covid happened, it was actually my full time job), but if I would have neither of those, then definitely something creative.

3. What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry need to know?
- It’s not only the 60min. you teach a class, you need to prep, you need to make playlist etc... It involves quite some time.
- Doesn’t matter whether you're having a bad day or not, once you step into the room you are there to motivate people, to push them, to bring out the best in them. Sometimes it’s like acting... You just gotta put on a smile and go for it.
- Listen to your body first... As a teacher you "give“ a lot and that can be draining some days. So rather take a step back, teach fewer classes and do something for yourself (like meditating).

4. What have you learned the most from the industry?
That you never stop learning :)
